It has been just two years since its initial launch, and in that time the YPI APP has almost 3,000 active users and just reached the Finals of one of the Media Industry's most prestigious Awards.
'This is the second Award in which we have reached the Finals in just two years,' explains YPI Digital Strategy Manager, Olivier Palayan. 'Which is great. The YPI App, now in its Phase Two format, is unique in yachting. It's free, it's available to all users on Apple and Android devices, it's packed with content including advice on chartering, buying and even managing your yacht; it's got excellent yacht listings with superb hi-res photography and, of course, the live feature everyone loves 'Yachts Around Me'. In short, it's a great all-round basic introduction to our world, the world of luxury yachting. And it works!"
YPI, together with its App developers and publishers, Progressive Customer Publishing, are up against some stiff competition for the Award of 'Best App' in the Digital/Online Media Awards 2015 being held in London.
"We are in some excellent company," says YPI Group Commercial & Marketing Director, Mark Duncan. "YPI with BBC, Thomson Reuters, The Times, ITV News and the Guardian newspaper. Spot the odd one out! I'm not sure we'll actually win this one, but regardless of that, it is a testament to the work and commitment PCP, our developers and YPI have to this project that we are being recognised in these types of environments. And it's great for luxury yachting, especially the charter industry! the more often we can create these types of opportunities to showcase our world, the more inviting it will be for those who have never tasted its delights before."
For Dan Davey, CEO of PCP, it is proof that YPI is succeeding in breaking out of the usual yachting circles in getting the message and the joy of yachting across. "It's hugely gratifying to see YPI listed among brands that are recognisable all over the world for quality, innovation and editorial integrity and excellence", he says. "Launching the YPI App was all about genuinely offering something that a very discerning audience would enjoy engaging with. The judges clearly recognised this, and celebrated it."
BREAKING NEWS: It was announced just before publication of our eNewsletter that YPI had not won the Award for "Best App" however we lost to a valiant winner in the form of ITV with their specialised News App. We congratulate them and all our fellow finalists.
