Beating off some stiff competition, RAINBOW wins the award for ‘Best Sailing Yacht’ in the 39m+ range at this year’s World Superyacht Awards.
RAINBOW For charter & for sale with YPI
“It has been almost 80 years since the iconic J-Class and America’s Cup Winner of 1934, RAINBOW, first sailed. So it is a fitting tribute that her cutting edge replica, one of the most eagerly awaited yachts of last year and one of the most technologically advanced, now picks up the award for Best Sailing Yacht in her category at this year’s World Superyacht Awards,” says YPI Head of Sailing, William Bishop.
Speaking about her win, the WSA judges had this to say about RAINBOW:
“After study of the five yachts in this class – one modern classic, two fast cruising yachts, one motor sailer and one performance-oriented yacht, all of which had been visited by judges – the J-Class Rainbow became the focus of their close attention. Constructed for an experienced yachtsman, Rainbow was built to the lines plan of the yacht of the same name that beat Endeavour in the 1934 America’s Cup, a shallow yacht with low internal volume. This tested the designers to the limit, but they nevertheless created a beautiful yacht with an efficient deck layout and good accommodation for the owner, guests and crew. Extremely well built, she is a worthy winner.”
Built by Holland Jachtbouw with optimised designs by Dykstra & Partners, Naval Architects, based on the original design by William Starling Burgess, RAINBOW JH2 pushes the boundaries in terms of technology on all fronts. Built for an experienced sailing yacht owner, RAINBOW JH2 is one of the first J-class yachts to have a complete hybrid propulsion and power system. “That is great news for the owner and indeed charter guests,” adds Will. “It means fuel savings of up to 30% as well as a reduction in sound. She can sail underway in silent operation and has ample hydraulic power in racing mode.”
RAINBOW is for sale with YPI and also for charter.
“She is a beautifully finished yacht, inside and out,” explains her YPI Charter Manager, Alena Zilayova. “She has a sumptuous mahogany-panelled interior with a classic 1930’s feel and offers spacious accommodation for up to six guests and seven crew. Her guest accommodation consists of three cabins: a Master and two twin berths all en-suite.”
RAINBOW JH2 is for charter exclusively with YPI Charter from EUR 60,000 per week.
For those who may be interested in owning this iconic sailing yacht, RAINBOW is also offered for sale exclusively with YPI Brokerage.
