Established in 1992 by father and son team Dorus and Dries Wajer in the village of Heeg in the northern Dutch province of Friesland, Wajer & Wajer has since earned itself a hard-fought reputation for producing outstanding yachts characterised by elegant design, impeccable sailing performance, durability, and the premium quality customers expect from the ‘Made in Holland’ label.
“We essentially make four unique models,” explains Dries. “We have the Captain’s Launch, the Zeelander and the Wajer Osprey 37 and 34 – the type used by YPI during the Monaco Yacht Show.”
Wajer yachts are designed to perform. With their underwater exhaust system and high-end electronics, the Wajer Osprey models are the most silent yachts of their type….and they are still able to retain the type of power you would expect with the enormous traction of four counter-rotating propellers.
“Wajer’s goal was to create a yacht with perfect maneuverability at both low and high speeds,” explains Dries. “Both Vripack International Naval Architects and Volvo Penta Sweden cooperated to create the perfect balance between the Osprey’s deep V-hull and its propulsion. This collaboration led to a perfect and extremely dry sailing experience.”
Docking is made considerably easier with an optional joystick which can operate both engines individually – making bow or stern thrusters redundant.
“Onboard facilities are well balanced with space,” adds Dries. “Cooking amenities, an enclosed toilet space and two to four beds, all combined with high quality craftsmanship, ensure the maximum of comfort.”
With top speeds of up to 44 knots and a well protected cockpit, the Osprey makes it possible to accommodate up to 12 persons at any time, allowing everyone a very comfortable ride and the chance to enjoy some great views.
Wajer provides Osprey 37 to YPI for exclusive use during the Monaco Yacht Show.
