“This is a yacht built to same lines as the one that beat Endeavour in the 1934 America’s Cup,” says YPI Head of Sailing, William Bishop. “A yacht with period charm but absolutely packed with today’s latest technology. She is a winner in every way, and now she adds the Showboats Designer Award for Naval Architecture to her ever-growing trophy cabinet.”
Almost 80 years after the iconic J-Class and America’s Cup Winner first sailed, RAINBOW JH2 is the cutting edge replica that was one of last year’s most eagerly awaited yachts and one of the most technologically advanced.
Built by Holland Jachtbouw with optimised designs by Dykstra & Partners Naval Architects and based on the original design by William Starling Burgess, RAINBOW JH2 pushes the boundaries in terms of technology on all fronts.
“She was built for an experienced sailing yacht owner,” says Will. “She is one of the first
J-class yachts to have a complete hybrid propulsion and power system. That gives fuel savings of up to 30% as well as a reduction in sound. She can sail underway in silent operation and has ample hydraulic power in racing mode.”
A finely finished yacht, inside and out, RAINBOW offers a sumptuous mahogany-panelled interior with a classic 1930’s feel and spacious accommodation for up to six guests and seven crew. Her guest accommodation consists of three cabins: a Master and two twin berths, all en-suite.
“As the judges at the World Superyacht Awards
commented, RAINBOW is built to the lines plan of a shallow yacht with low internal volume,” explains Will. “And yet, through skill, imagination and determination we now have a beautifully crafted yacht with an efficient deck layout and excellent accommodation for owner, guests and crew. We are very proud to be representing RAINBOW for sale today.”
