With over 14,000 visitors and hundreds of enquiries every month, one of YPI Group’s most powerful and most used communication tools is given a new look and a whole new way of presenting information to clients and visitors.
“Our existing site had had a few facelifts over the years,” explains Group Marketing Manager, Mark Duncan, “but all the functionality and structure was essentially developed over six years ago. Clearly the web and how we use it has changed beyond all recognition in that time and this year we decided we couldn’t put it off any longer – it was time to build and design a whole new site.”
Responsible for the project development was YPI Group Webmaster Olivier Palayan, the man charged with the task of coming up with a new structure and look that turned the user experience into something a lot easier and more enjoyable.
“We decided to change the way we approached the site, with the recent release of the iPad a lot of attention is being paid to Apple’s array of multi-media tools and devices, and not least of all their smart use of tactile screens. But of course you don’t need to own an iPad or iPhone to profit from the benefits of tactile screens. Touch screens are everywhere and part of the success of the new YPI website is that it is tactile-ready so visitors can run through slideshows and yacht selections with a touch and drag over their screens. To help mobile users enjoy all the benefits of the site, ypigroup.com has also been purposely designed not to include Flash technology which most mobile devices can’t read.” says Olivier.
“Instead of treating it like an online brochure for YPI we approached the site from the perspective of the visitor and what they are really looking for when they come to ypigroup.com."

The YPI website is one of the industry’s most visited sites.
“We have lots of worthwhile visits and the enquiry rate is very high for this type of industry,” explains Olivier.
Work on the optimisation of the site is already well underway to ensure it retains its impressive Google rankings around the world – rankings which not only attract more interested visitors but ensure greater visibility for yachts listed by YPI for sale and charter.
