"Super yacht owners summit" - Record attendance expected

Created last year as a response to yacht owners" frustration not only with the yachting industry but with the limited information and guidance they were receiving during what has been one of the biggest shake-ups yachting has ever known, the Super Yacht Owners Summit is the brainchild of YPI and The Yacht Report Group.

“The future of successful luxury yachting is really dependent now on the quality of relations and the level of understanding that exists between owners and the industry,” explains YPI Group CEO, Bertrand Vogèle. “I don’t think there has ever been a time when giving owners and the industry the chance to open up to each other stands to bring about such potentially important change. That’s why we linked up with Martin Redmayne and his team to create the Summit.”

Open only to invited superyacht owners and with a complete ban on Press, the first ever event, held at the Monaco Yacht Club on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show last year, was well attended and included speakers from the world of private banking, maritime law, ship brokerage, private jets and luxury yacht building.

This year registrations for the event are double that of 2009..

“It’s one of the few chances owners are given to speak freely in front of some of the industry’s major players regarding the specific issues and concerns that affect their yachting experience today,” explains Yacht Report Group CEO Martin Redmayne. “This year our speakers include representatives from the Cayman Registry, the President of MYBA, the President of SYBAs, the PYA and the ECPY. It really is a formidable panel this year and we are looking forward to another rewarding exchange of views and experiences.”

Under the theme: “Putting Owners Back In Control: Making Your Voice Heard” the topics up for discussion include:

  • Commercial versus Private: Taxing Issues.
  • Crew and the Impact of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006.
  • The Cost of Ownership: How To Control It.
  • Is There a Workable Valuation Model: What Do Owners Want?

The day is designed to give owners a real chance to have their thoughts and feelings heard by people who make a difference in the industry and with a sumptuous lunch before hand and a cocktail reception after, it is set to be an instructive and enjoyable day.
