“Our 10th year has actually turned out to be a Best Year In Business,” says YPI Crew director Laurence Reymann. “We have placed a record number of captains, engineers and other crew onboard some incredible yachts. In fact, on average, 1 in every 3.85 job orders with us now results in a crew placement – that’s an outstanding testament to the quality of our procedures and the crew we work with.” The team also unearthed some exciting new talent during several recruitment drives in the UK. “It’s so important to always have an eye open for those who may well be the next generation of super yacht crew.”
2012 also saw YPI Crew launch a completely re-designed new-look website packed with lots more features and news including easy links with Twitter and Facebook, a new and improved registration system and an excellent series of ‘How to…” videos presented by Laurence herself.
“It’s sometimes so much easier to take information and tips onboard when you are watching and listening to someone,” says Laurence.
This series helps crew better prepare for interviews and gives some solid advice on what to expect when it comes to the more searching questions and answers in the interview situation.”
YPI Crew also linked up with the prestigious Ducasse Institute to help further the careers of yacht chefs across the industry. “We are able to keep our chefs informed about new courses available from the Institute as well as keeping them in touch with what else is being offered.”
2012 also saw YPI Crew take to the track as sponsors of yacht captain and racing car driver Lars Viljoen in the FIA prototype racing circuit – the SPEED EuroSeries.
“Racing and Yachting are both high-end pursuits fostering the type of excellence which is the cornerstone of my vision for YPI Crew,” says Laurence. “Skill, energy, courage and determination are qualities I value a lot and Lars embodies these qualities both as a professional yacht captain and as a racing car driver.”
And 2012 is suitably wrapped up with perhaps one of the most exciting changes of the year for YPI Crew as the team moves into the entirely redesigned, plush new offices left behind following YPI Group’s recent move of the YPI Charter team from Antibes to the head offices in Monaco.
“The move to these larger premises will really help make our operation more efficient than ever,” says Laurence. “We have better facilities to interview crew now and much more space for the team to operate. We can’t wait to move into our snazzy new offices…and rest assured, we will keep all our crew updated.”
