Global shipbroking group BRS, parent company of YPI, is to sponsor the Class 40 racing yacht “IX Blue - BRS” and its skipperStephane le Diraisonfor the 2014/5 season, and is currently preparing for the famous Route du Rhum transatlantic race starting 2 November.
Le Diraison and the Masai has already performed two regattas over the summer, the ‘Armen race’ in May and the ‘Trophée SNSM’ in June. He is now in training for the Route du Rhum, a solo race which takes place in challenging winter sea conditions and which has been nicknamed the ‘Queen’ of the transatlantic sailing races.
Le Diraison has already sailed 50,000 race miles, and has won several major prizes including first place in the Fastnet race in 2009, the Grand Prix d’Italie in 2010 and the Sables-Horta race in 2011. His most recent win was in the Grand Prix Guyader 2013.
The ‘Route du Rhum’ started from Saint Malo on November 2nd with high media coverage and an expected 1 million visitors watching the departure.
