Our Building Process
A shipbuilding project is a sequence of unique, complex and connected activities having one goal or purpose that must be completed by a specific time, within budget and according to specification.
Unless an Owner has a complete understanding of every aspect of yacht building – including the practical, legal, fiscal and environmental implications – working with a team of experts and specialists he can trust is the only satisfactory and prudent way of building a new yacht today.
This is another reason why in today’s climate, more than ever before, established Owners are returning to YPI…and not for the first time but for their second and third project builds.
From concept to commissioning, the YPI Group is there to help:
- initial discussions with the Owner lead to the preparation of a design brief and a preliminary specification.
- provide a shipyard research service
- take a very unbiased role in the review and selection of the shipyards and designers
- help the Buyer to prioritise, focus and select the best team and the most suitable shipyard for a particular project
- act as "Owner's Representative" representing the Owner's interests and ensuring the final project comes within budget, deadline and importantly, expectation. .
We assist with crew selection and ensure all systems are in place and fully operational prior to delivery:
- Accounting
- Yacht insurance
- Communications system
- Maintenance procedures
- Security
- Crew training
- Compliance and Certifications (ISM, ISPS...)
Efficiency in all things is a YPI Group mantra – needless to say, it is one our Owners fully endorse.
Some recent new constructions managed by YPI Management include:
- M.Y. Mary-Jean II (60-metre ISA)
- S.Y. Tiara (54-metre Alloy Yacht)
- M.Y. Aquamarina (47-metre ISA)
- M.Y. Gladius (38-metre Cantieri di Pisa)
- M.Y. Alexandar V (48-metre ISA)
- A 47-metre Cantieri Di Pisa both for delivery in 2010
