And it’s easy to see why. The island, which covers more than 25,000 kilometers and boasts more than 1,200km of stunning coastline, offers endless opportunities to sail between picturesque ports, the chance to stop off in secluded bays to anchor for the night, and unlimited access to some of Europe’s best dive sites.
Meanwhile, the island’s breathtaking inland scenery and incredible architecture which spans centuries will also impress even the most culturally uninterested.
Super yacht charter guests will quickly discover that Sicily enjoys a unique culture due to its diverse heritage which has been heavily influenced by European, African and Asian culture. Only here will you find Arabian castles, Greek temples and Spanish churches sitting side by side.
The largest city in Sicily, and from where many will depart on their super yacht charters, is Palermo, on the western coast of the island. The attractive capital city is located in an inlet by the towering Monte Pellegrino.
Another coastal town which is a must on any super yacht charter is the ancient city of Siracusa, on the south-eastern coast. Siracusa was once one of the great cities of the Greek world, on a par with Athens and Rome, and was home to Archimedes, Pindar and Aeschylus. Its Temple of Apollo is believed to be the oldest Greek temple outside Greece today.
Perhaps the most famous destination is Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano which is truly a magnificent sight and well worth a trip inland from your super yacht charter.

Highly recommended also on a super yacht charter around Sicily is a trip around the Aeolian Islands, which lie to the north of the eastern coast of Sicily. Here you will find acres of olive groves, fascinating ancient ruins and a number of long, unspoiled black sand beaches.
Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian islands, whilst Stromboli is home to another of Sicily’s active volcanoes which frequently spews flowing lava into the sea. Panarea is the smallest of the archipelago and for many, the most beautiful, especially the picturesque port of San Pietro which is thoroughly recommended for any super yacht charters.
