Thailand & Malaysia Yacht Charter: Phuket to Langkawi

Thailand & Malaysia Yacht Charter: Phuket to Langkawi

The coastline south of Phuket and all the way down to Langkawi is dotted with islands. Some of these boast picture-perfect white sand beaches and palm trees, whilst others are magnificent limestone structures offering mysterious caves for intrepid explorers. All are surrounded by turquoise water, warm and crystal clear, perfect for snorkelling.

There are many good diving and swimming areas, and the sailing is easy, gentle cruising… a lazy 15 knots or so of wind most of the time; that means flat calm water and definitely no seasickness! Known as “the Land of Smiles”, Thailand offers a warm welcome to all visitors.

The Buddhist culture is a rich and totally fascinating contrast to our familiar Western world – and, of course, the food is fantastic.

is one of the Thailand’s designated national parks with a ranger station on it north western shore located in a shallow bay. Its southern most tip is just two miles from Langkawi, Malaysia. Koh Tarutao is an undeveloped island with few inhabitants. During World War II, the island was used as a prisoner-of-war camp.

The prisoners and guards eventually turned to pirating due to lack of supplies. A book has been written about those events. The English Navy was eventually sent in order to clear the remaining pirates out.

Yacht Charter MalaysiaLangkawi

Arriving at the capital, Huah Town, you are now in Malaysia, where many myths relate to the forming of the islands.  Langkawi itself is called the island of mysteries.  A 100-year curse, put on the island by a woman who was wrongfully condemned to death, only recently came to an end.  Langkawi has a spectacular cable car that can take you to the highest peak on the island for some really stunning 360° views - a great place to take some truly memorable photos. The island is duty free, so with time permitting it is a good place to shop.

Many new high class resorts and some new marinas have recently opened on the island, so it offers a great deal for guests wishing to enjoy Langkawi’s delights before or after your private yacht charter. The main religion of the island is Islam so a conservative dress code should be adhered to. Links by fast ferry to mainland Malaysia, Thailand and also to the Malaysian island of Penang operate every day. There is an international airport with flights to Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket and Singapore...
