Crewed Yacht Charters: Personal Chef

The crew of every luxury charter yacht includes at least one chef, and sometimes a team of chefs, whose job is not just to produce exquisite meals, but to produce those meals in keeping with the specific tastes and preferences of the charter client.

Before a crewed yacht charter vacation begins, clients are asked to complete a preference questionnaire, which will tell the chef what kind of cuisine is preferred, what style of dining they enjoy, whether buffet lunches or more formal dinners are more appropriate, what time guests generally like to dine, and more. The yacht charter chef uses this information to provision the yacht and plan each day’s menus in accordance with the client’s preferences. If chocolate has been requested in every evening’s desserts, then the chef will outline a week’s menu of ganache, mousse and soufflés. If the guests have indicated a preference for healthier fare, then the chef will focus on a menu that includes salads, vegetables, fresh fruits and home-made sorbets.

Preferences on a crewed motor yacht or sailing yacht

The preference sheet also gives clients on crewed charters an opportunity to request special menus as needed. Given enough notice, most charter yacht chefs can accommodate any desire or diet, be it vegetarian, kosher, gluten-free, or some other specialty. If a single guest requires a different menu than the rest of the charter party, then the yacht’s chef will prepare separate menus for that guest. If half the guests enjoy filet mignon while the other half prefers fresh fish, then multiple entrees will be offered at the table.

Crewed Yacht Charter Chefs

The chefs on board crewed charter yachts are also flexible with their menus, allowing for unexpected treats when the opportunity arises. For instance, if the charter guests spend morning fishing and return to the yacht with fresh fish, the chef might offer a buffet of freshly prepared sushi for lunch. Similarly, if charter guests go ashore and discover a bustling market full of local delicacies like figs and goat’s cheese, the chef will happily turn them into hors d’oeuvres to be enjoyed during cocktail hour at sunset. Perhaps best of all, charter yacht chefs work with the captain and crew to organize each day’s meals around the client’s chosen activities.

There is no rushing to finish breakfast in time for snorkelling, and no need to hurry back from a day at the beach in time for dinner. When the client is ready, the food will be served, no matter the time of day or night.
